You will not need a separate web server to run these applications because a specialized web-server is provided.  But you will need a static IP address or domain name for the machine that is hosting these applications.  This computer should not be used as a workstation by staff since it will slow down the operation of online connectivity.

Firewalls normally block unknown ports and only leave commonly used ports open (such as port 80). However, most firewalls allow all HTTP traffic to pass through regardless of what port they use. This is done by using an HTTP proxy. Therefore, these applications are compatible with nearly all firewalls you may be using.

These applications are being deployed as stand alone executables.  They are completely self-sufficient and do not require any web server to be installed.

The only requirement for online end-users of these applications is that their browser must be HTML 4 compatible, since extensive use of HTML 4 and JavaScript are made.

Internet Explorer versions 4, 5, and 6 are supported.

Netscape 6 and higher are supported.

Mozilla Firefox is supported.

Installing the executables are as easy as copying them into a folder and double-clicking on them to start their built-in web servers.

Each application has its own web server and listens on a different pre-programmed port.

Linking to these applications:

Since the whole user interface is based on a web browser, calling the application is done using a URL. The URL has a very simple format.

Syntax: http://<server>:<port>

Example (using a domain name): http://www.myassociation.com:1950

To use an IP address, replace the domain name with the IP address.
